After the fifth round at Paul Ricard in July, we meet again for the seventh and penultimate round of the International Open GT at the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit.
The entry list, with 33 cars and some interesting new entries, is once again very strong.
For the second time this year, a CorvetteZ06 R will be in action, this time fielded by well-known British team Steller Motorsport, who will be making its debut in the series, with a pair composed of two young and promising brothers from Canada, Daniel and Adam Ali.
Free practice
Taking into account the Bronze Test, we will be offered three free sessions.
The Bronze Test will see the #6 GetSpeed Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO driven by Steve Jans and Aaron Walker top the timesheet, ahead of another Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO, the #222 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes driven by Charles Daxson and McKenzy Cresswell.

At the end of a torrid Friday of free practice on the Catalan circuit, the sessions produced an unexpected result, with five Mercedes in the top six, the Corvette #42 playing the spoilsport with a second time 0’640 behind the Dutch duo Remon Vos / Yelmar Buurman of the Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO of Motopark #74.

Saturday day.
It was once again a hot day in Barcelona, with perfect track conditions as the competition took place.
Q1
Josh Rattican became the ninth different polesitter in ten GT Open sprint races this year this Saturday morning.
The young Briton, driving the #27 Greystone GT McLaren 720S shared with Jayden Kelly, set a time of 1:38.587.
Maximilian Götz will share the front row in the #11 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - Team Motopark.
AM leader Michele Rugolo Ferrari 296 GT3 #21 - AF Corse posted the best time among Am cars.

Race 1

The young poleman maintains the advantage at the start, ahead of Götz, Fabian Schiller #9 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - GetSpeed, Yannick Mettler #54 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - CBRX by SPS, ....
ut the race was eventful from even before the start, as Robin Rogalski #19 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 - Oregon Team lost a wheel and and Tom Lebbon #17 Ferrari 296 GT3 - Elite Motorsport was hit by a mechanical failure. Both go back to the pits.
In the first lap, there are two separate incidents at the back, between Mark Sansom #188 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO - Garage 59 and Ameerh Naran #108 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - Vimana on one side, and between Alfredo Hernandez #77 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - BDR Grupo Prom Racing Team and Thorvaldur Gissurarson #86 Porsche 911 GT3 R - Team Thor on the other.
The safety car is out from lap 2 to 5.
After the restart, Rattican leads by 1.5 seconds on Götz.
After all stops, Levente Révész #11 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - Team Motopark is first, with a 3-second gap on Jayden Kelly who took over from Josh Rattican, 6 on Anthony Bartone #9 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - GetSpeed and 10 on Christopher Haase #1 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II - Eastalent Racing.
Antal Zsigo #500 BMW M4 GT3 EVO - Racing Trevor leads the AM category.
With those reduced gaps, it’s easy to anticipate a great battle, which indeed happens for second, while Levente Révész keeps control up to the flag.
Christopher Haase will finish second after passing Anthony Bartone.
Dexter Müller / Dexter wins in PRO-AM ahead of Dominik Baumann / Valentin Pierburg #20 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - SPS Automotive Performance.
Antal Zsigo / Dennis Waszek wins AM beating Ameerh Naran.

Sunday day
Q2
This Sunday morning, the qualifying session before race 2 took place in the rain.
The rain diminished by the time the GT Open cars got in action, but the track was very wet.
The session had to be red-flagged halfway when Matteo Cairoli #65 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - Team Motopark and Dean Macdonald #33 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO - Greystone GT went off-track.
In these particular conditions, Christopher Haase took pole position.
Sharing first row will be Dominik Baumann (+0s178), the current PRO-AM leader.
Charlie Hollings #188 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO - Garage 59 took the pole in AM.

Race 2

The track is dry after the heavy rain of the morning for the start of Race 2, with Christopher Haase on pole.
The start though is delayed as the Ameerh Naran's #108 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - Vimana gets stalled on the grid ahead of formation lap and two laps are needed to remove it.
At the real start, Christopher Haase keeps the advantage, but only for two laps as he is passed by Tommaso Mosca #51 Ferrari 296 GT3 - AF Corse, who takes the lead.
Yelmer Buuran #74 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - Team Motopark is third ahead of Ralf Aron #82 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - GetSpeed, Levente Révész,Tom Emson #17 Ferrari 296 GT3 - Elite Motorsport.
In lap 8, the safety car is in again after Filip Salaquarda #75 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II - Team ISR rammed Marcus Påverud #26 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II - Saintéloc Racing remaining stuck over a kerb.
The neutralization lasts for 6 laps
The pit stop window (delayed) opens in lap 15 and when all driver changes have been performed, Carl Bennett Bennett #51 Ferrari 296 GT3 - AF Corse is first.

There won’t be many changes in the few final laps, but there is some scary rubbing between the two Greystone McLarens, who will finish second and third respectively, the 33 ahead of the 27.
Steve Jans / Aaron Walker #6 Mercedes AMG GT3 EVO - GetSpeed will win the category PRO-AM in front Dominik Baumann / Valentin Pierburg.
In AM victory will go to Gino Forgione / Gino Forgione in front of Antal Zsigo / Dennis Waszek.
Before heading to Monza for the final round of the 2025 season, we find Levente Révész alone at the top of the championship with 123 points, ahead of Christopher Haase / Simon Reicher 118pts, and Tommaso Mosca / Carl Bennett 110pts.
In the Pro-AM, Aaron Walker / Steve Jans 89 points, ahead of Valentin Pierburg / Dominik Baumann at 1 point. Filip Salaquarda / Libor Milota 61 points.
In the AM, Mark Sansom 110 points, trails Gino Forgione / Michele Rugolo at 4 points.
The battle for the various titles will be tight.
