The last April weekend it was not only about Rechberg in the middle of Europe but there was also rather interesting race meeting in Brno so that we decided to move to Brno for Sunday in order to view both races of Walter Pedrazza-promoted Sports Car Challenge. It was a bit disappointing that out of 24 entered prototypes, 14 of which were in highest almost unlimited division, when we arrived to Brno, we discovered only 14 cars took part in Saturday’s practice, one of which appeared not to be competing on Sunday. Despite we actually saw only dozen of cars racing, instead of expected two dozens, the entire programme was very interesting anyway as the SCC race was a part of Histo Cup racing weekend and there was a lot of interesting machinery anyway. We will deal with the historic races separately.

The programme was the same for all races. Two qualifying sessions held separately for each of the planned two separate races. In the Sports Cars Challenge Austria, as it was officially called there was actually just one quick car driven by Andrea Fiedler. It was PRC no.1, like most of the field, powered by an Audi-Turbo engine. He set 1:56.6 and 1:57.9 in both qualifying sessions respectively. Next two position belonged to Division 2 Wolfs no.32 and no.35, one of which was entered under the ARD3-Honda name. Actually the Division 2 had several subclasses - for CN, C3 and Radical+similar cars. In fact there was just one Radical entered. And of two entered C3 class, just one actually made the trip to Brno - Ligier-Honda no.46. Division 2 brought generally much more diversity - apart from already mentioned cars there was a very interesting Tatuus no.34 and Norma no.31, which unfortunately withdraw from the race. None of two entered Division 2 PRCs appeared but the first Division it was all about various kinds of PRC, except for Norma no.5, the only non-PRC high division entrant.

Unlike it used to be some 15 or more years ago, when SCC actually supported the first ISRS Brno race in 1997, actually none of the drivers was a well-known person outside of real followers of the club level series. Already mentioned Andreas Fiedler easily won both races.

Wolf no.35 had bad luck in both races. In the first one the car stopped in the first turn in its formation lap, so that a second formation (behind safety car) laps was added, while in the second race it lasted only a bit longer. Mathys Falvio in Wolf no.32 was always overtaken by several faster cars of Division 1 right after the start on the main straight. Then it was very difficult for Flavio to overtake his much opponents, who were notably quicker on straights, but were setting slower lap times. In the first race Flavio in his Wolf managed to finish only fourth but in the second race it looked more interesting. With Fiedler far away in front, Flavio almost entire race tried to overtake second race running Breitenmoser in PRC no.7. He finally managed to overtake him two laps before the finish, only to suffer a puncture in the next corner (not sure if he was actually victim of a contact by Breitenmoser but we did not manage to verify that assumption). The he was classified only 10th, the last finisher. With Flavio out in race two, it was top 6 cars of Division 1 in the finish, Norma actually taking the last podium place.
