Formula 1 2025 – Preview

McLaren and Aston Martin are the only teams to retain the same driver line-ups for 2025, which cranks up the potential for unpredictability this season.

Max Verstappen heads into the new campaign bidding for his fifth consecutive world title, but he may not things all his own way given the strength across the rest of the grid.

McLaren and Ferrari both made significant strides last season and their respective drivers will fancy their chances of knocking the Red Bull driver off his perch.

Norris briefly threatened to challenge for the title in 2024 and he is strongly fancied to mount a more sustained bid this time around.

Teammate Oscar Piastri is also expected to be competitive and the McLaren duo could make life extremely difficult for the reigning champion.

Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari has been one of the biggest talking points during the close season and it will be intriguing to see how he fares with the iconic Italian team.

The British star is pursuing a record-setting eighth drivers’ title after being robbed four years ago and he will be eager to make his mark this season.

However, his teammate Charles Leclerc could be more troublesome in the title race given his familiarity with the inner workings at Ferrari.

Fernando Alonso could also be worth monitoring with Aston Martin after the team splashed the cash to assemble a strong off-track group.

Twelve-time champion Adrian Newey has been appointed as technical director, while Andy Cowell and Enrico Cardile have joined from Mercedes and Ferrari, respectively.

Newey’s track record of success combined with Alonso’s experience should help to ensure that Aston Martin enjoy an extremely productive season in F1.
