Along with Le Mans 24 Hours, there were also two races supporting the main programme. Traditional Le Mans Legends race, this year for sports car from 1950s and 1960s, was supplemented by an Aston Martin race. With both races set to run to 45 minutes around the entire track but both spoilt by safety car intervention (Aston Martin race was even red-flagged and unfinished), we just concentrated on bringing you the photos.
Basically it was all about a battle between several Ford GT40s and a lone but nice and quick Alpine A220. The photos are shown sorted by numbers:
The race was formed by mainly GT3 and GT4 Aston Martins. Some more powerful GT2 or Invitational entries made up the field, while by far most attractive and quick car was a Lola Aston Martin LMP1 from 2009 in Gulf colours. Stuart Hall, driving it, turned into the pits after the formation lap and restarted once almost entire first lap was completed. There was a hope of an excellent catching up as he was capable of running times by 30 seconds per lap better than any other car in the field. Unfortunately it was stopped after only 4 laps, so the results really did not matter. Some photos:
