There were 123 entries, including 57 from Mexico and 50 from the U. S., including everything from elderly couples on vacation to a heavy turnout of Yankee stock car handlers. The race started at Ciudad Juarez, across the Rio Grande from E1 Paso, Texas, and ended 2.106 miles later at Ciudad Cuauhtemoc, on the Guatemalan line.
Cars no.114, 130, 87, 25 and 56 were over the time limit at some point during the race, but continued to the finish, still competing for leg-prizes but outside the total results. They are considered as disqualified.
